Philleo Nash, the first chair of the GDS Board of Trustees, liked to call GDS a “do-it-yourself school.” From its founding by seven families in 1945, GDS has always counted on our entire community to make sure we are doing it right. Members of our community who have invested in the GDS endowment allow us to keep true to our founding mission.

Gifts to the endowment help provide long-term financial security for the school. An endowment is made up of gifts and bequests that are subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact in perpetuity and invested to create a source of income. The income derived from the interest earned contributes to the school’s operating budget each year.
