In addition to the Hopper Fund, support for financial aid is an ongoing advancement priority.

The philanthropic support of our community has allowed us to make meaningful increases in our financial aid budget year over year. These gifts range from full scholarship support to the Class of 2019 young alumni making gifts of $20.19. In 2019-20, we will award $7.1 million in financial aid, an increase of nearly two million dollars since 2013-14. The average award amount has increased by nearly 10% since 2013-14 to $28,000 this year. These increases are thanks in large part to our community making support for financial aid at GDS a philanthropic priority.

If you would like to learn more about supporting financial aid, please contact Jeffrey Delozier, Director of Development, at 202-295-6239 or jdelozier@gds.org.

We have been partners with GDS in providing financial aid for close to a decade, and it is one of the most meaningful ways in which our family helps support others. The contribution benefits the students receiving the aid, their families, and the diversity of the GDS student body.

Caleb Kramer ’87, Alumni and Current Parent

We support financial aid so that children may obtain the tremendous educational foundation that our own children have received, and because education suffers if children do not learn alongside peers whose experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds differ from their own.
