Georgetown Day School is closed from noon on Friday, March 22 through Tuesday, April 2. All school offices are closed, including Admissions and College Counseling. Any voice or email messages will be returned on April 3. 

During spring break, March 25–29, the Lower/Middle School will host a break camp. To register, visit www.GDS.org/BreakCamp.

Lisa Fairfax, At Large

Lisa Fairfax joined the board in 2014. She is chair of the Diversity Committee and serves on the Governance Committee, Finance Committee, and Executive Committee.

Lisa is the founder and director of the Corporate Law and Governance Institute and the Leroy Sorenson Merrifield research professor of law at the George Washington University Law School. Lisa teaches courses in the business arena including corporations, securities regulation, and contracts. Lisa researches and writes on issues related to corporate governance, directors’ fiduciary duties, board diversity, and shareholder participation. Lisa is a member of the Investor Advisory Committee of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Lisa is also a member of the BYU Law School Board of Advisors and the SEC Historical Society Board of Trustees.

Lisa has served as chair of both the Securities Regulation Section and the Business Association Section of the American Association of Law Schools. Lisa is also a former member of the NASDAQ Market Regulation Committee and the National Adjudicatory Council of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where she served as chair of its subcommittee on waivers.

Lisa graduated from Harvard Law School and Harvard College with honors. From 2014-15, Lisa served as secretary and member of the executive committee of the GDS Board. From 2017-18, Lisa served as chair of the governance committee.
