What do you love about GDS?

I love GDS’s mission of honoring the integrity and worth of each individual within a diverse school community. It’s a privilege and a joy to connect with each student, get to know them, and see them grow throughout the year.

Why do you do your job?

I strive to create a supportive and joyful learning environment where children feel successful, included, and proud of who they are.

A favorite part of your job?

There are so many! Lately, I’ve especially loved the read-alouds I share with my class. These books help us grow together and strengthen our classroom community.

Your work style in a few words?

Supportive, reflective, student-centered

A top hope/wish for your students and/or colleagues?

I hope my students feel part of a community where they are supported both academically and socially.

Personal passions/hobbies/pastimes?

I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, and camping with my family, as well as dancing and imaginative play with my four-year-old daughter.

A few favorites…?

Favorite recipes: Almost anything from The New York Times Cooking app
Favorite movies: Back to the Future. I saw the NSO play the soundtrack to Back to the Future this summer at Wolf Trap, and it was amazing!
Favorite band: Greensky Bluegrass and Jason Isbell
Favorite countries I’ve traveled to: Mexico. I love Mexico City!

Hiking with family

Tell us about your family and/or pet(s).

My wife Chloe, our daughter Naomi, and our cat Milo.

One thing about yourself your students/colleagues/others probably don't know?

A movie was being filmed in my neighborhood a few years ago, and I had the opportunity to be an extra in several scenes!

If you happen to have a bucket list, one thing on your life bucket list you've already accomplished?

I don’t really have a bucket list, but if I did, it would be to visit as many state and national parks as possible.
