High School Learning Specialist Long-Term Substitute

 
Georgetown Day School, an independent school in Washington, D.C. seeks a long-term substitute learning specialist for the 2019-2020 school year. The position will begin November 18, 2019 and run to approximately until the end of May.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Working with High School students individually and in small groups on cross–curricular academic skills, note taking, organization, and time management
  • Planning and implementing  programming for the Hopper Academic Learning Lab (HALL) in conjunction with colleagues
  • Coordinating with student advisors and teachers to interpret diagnostic testing, gather feedback regarding students, and provide specific learning strategies to the teachers
  • Coordinating accommodations for College Board and ACT
  • Working closely with high school counselor, Dean of Academic Life, and other members of the student support team to support students with and without documentation.
  • During the AP testing weeks of  May 4th-May 15th, the position will have altered hours that will require the learning specialist to be on campus by 7:00 am and to stay until 5:00 pm on certain days to be determined with the student support team.

Qualifications:
  • M.A. in Special Education is required.
  • An M.A. coupled with at least five years experience in school settings is preferred.
