Laurie Wingate

Laurie Wingate joined the board in 2017. She serves on the External Affairs Committee, Facilities Master Planning Committee, and Governance Committee.

Beginning with six years of classroom teaching in Oakland, California, as part of Teach for America, Laurie’s career has focused on advancing educational outcomes for students in urban environments. She is a senior advisor to Results for America, where she is driving improved partnerships between city governments and community-based collective impact organizations. Previously, she served as the founding executive director of Raise DC, the District of Columbia's cradle-to-career collective impact partnership; as a classroom teacher in DC Public Schools; and as an instructor to Russian college students at Moscow State University.

Laurie was a founding board member of the Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School, as well as serving on the board of directors of DC Vote and the Little Folks School. She was also appointed to the executive committee of DC Workforce Investment Council.

Laurie graduated from Dartmouth College and received her teaching credential from University of California, Berkeley.
