  • GDS's 75th
  • Anniversary
Seventy-five years ago, Georgetown Day School was founded as the first integrated school in Washington, DC. Our founders envisioned a school in which children would learn joyfully, in which they would be meaningfully challenged, and in which their education would prepare them to engage as changemakers locally, nationally, and even globally. They established GDS as a school where children love to learn and learn to change the world.

Our 75th school year has been quite different than we ever imagined, and yet our community has persevered. Our students, teachers, and parents have been innovative and creative. They've tackled problems we never could have envisioned, and our students are learning actively both in person and virtually. We have hosted a number of community-wide virtual events this school year in honor of our anniversary, and we look forward to celebrating in person with you when it is safe to do so.

We support financial aid so that children may obtain the tremendous educational foundation that our own children have received, and because education suffers if children do not learn alongside peers whose experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds differ from their own.

We have been partners with GDS in providing financial aid for close to a decade, and it is one of the most meaningful ways in which our family helps support others. The contribution benefits the students receiving the aid, their families, and the diversity of the GDS student body.

GDS is the village that helped me raise my son - it will always be on the top of my charitable giving list so other children can experience this remarkable place!

Change starts with us, first. If we wait for another person or another time to give, change will not happen. We believe it's crucial to continue to build a legacy of equity and inclusion at and beyond the walls of GDS.

GDS has given our children the intellectual rigor and emotional and social support they needed to develop and thrive. Giving to GDS allows us to play a role in enabling future generations to benefit from the extraordinary community and mission.
