GDS students, back together again and on one campus.
Last year, we learned that while we are able to provide high quality programming virtually, there are unique and significant benefits to in-person learning. We are pleased to have all students and staff on campus full days, five days a week for the 2021-22 school year. Safety measures include vaccination, masking, hygiene, ventilation, and cleaning. We understand that we will still be living with COVID-19 and that extenuating circumstances, including Department of Health-ordered quarantines, may dictate temporary class or individual pivots to GDS Virtual Campus.

Numbers We're Tracking

COVID-19 in DC

The District of Columbia monitors key public health signs of COVID and uses those metrics to label community risk level following CDC community levels. DC requirements for schools may change depending on these metrics.

This dashboard is typically updated weekly between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.

Case update 5/23/2022:

For the time period 5/15 to 5/22, we've had 31 (down from the week prior) positive cases (29 students and 2 adults). Twelve of those cases were reported through on-campus testing. Two fourth grade classes have met the threshold for required indoor masking.

Whenever there is a positive case, we conduct contact tracing if school exposure is possible and individuals are advised on quarantine and isolation periods. With 98.9% of our on campus community fully-vaccinated (and 30% of eligible students and 70% of eligible adults boosted), the number of individuals being required to quarantine following close contact is small.

As a reminder, if a student or staff member tests positive as a result of an off-campus test—or experiences symptoms of any illness—please notify Connie Crowley immediately.

We continue to encourage our community to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of COVID and the need for quarantine.

COVID Testing Update for 5/15 to 5/17/2022:
12 positives from 484 on-campus tests.

Overall GDS on-campus COVID testing stats for 2021-22 school year (8/20/21-5/17/22):
29,825 on-campus tests, 132 positives from on-campus testing
