Our Mission

The studio arts faculty foster an appreciation and celebration of the diverse gifts which each individual and culture bring. We aim to instill in our High School students a life-long love of the visual arts through a broad curriculum designed for all levels. We create an environment where students develop technical expertise, personal voice, critical thinking skills, and innovative ideas. Finally, we expose students to multicultural, contemporary, and historic art movements to help them understand the larger context and contribution of art in society.

Our Program

The studio arts program in the High School is considered one of the premier art departments in the region. Our comprehensive curriculum, outstanding facilities, and skilled faculty combine to create an environment where students flourish. Our five state-of-the-art studios are individually designed for specific media, including ceramics/sculpture, painting/drawing, photography, graphic design, animation, 3D design, and film/video. Students are exposed to the latest technology in our studios, which feature Adobe Creative Cloud software including Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Spark, and Premiere.

The curriculum trajectory begins with introductory courses and leads to advanced study. We provide students opportunities to compete in regional, national, and international competitions. The art department hosts extensive exhibitions featuring every student’s artwork, allowing our student artists to express their thoughts and learn how to exhibit and present their work.
