Move as One, Grow as an Individual
GDS’s dance programs are where movement meets meaning, where students are empowered to express themselves, build discipline, and connect through rhythm, storytelling, and the art of performance.

Lower School Dance
Lower School students take dance classes once a week, beginning with a focus on understanding spatial awareness and physical expression. As they grow in the program, students learn the fundamentals of choreography and improvisation.

Middle School Dance
In Middle School, dance becomes a choice option in the enrichment curriculum. Students start learning about global dance styles as well as different dance techniques; each grade joins an ensemble to perform in two evening showcases.

High School Dance
High School dance classes are for students with all levels of dance training, learning fundamental techniques and developing an understanding of choreography. In addition to various class offerings, the High School hosts a renowned extracurricular student-run dance company, Fata Morgana, with featured performances twice a year. Also twice a year, GDS hosts a master teacher from New York City for a day of classes for High School students. These classes are made possible by the Samuel J. Rosenfeld Family Master Dance Series Grant.
The GDS High School allowed me to take charge and build a community of dancers through Fata Morgana, which was the highlight of my entire school experience.
