Thank you for your interest in Georgetown Day School!

Throughout your admissions process, we aim to support you and your family as you find the best school fit for your child. Below you will find an overview of our admissions process by division for the 2022-23 school year. Please note that full descriptions and details of our process can be found on Ravenna.

Please note that in accordance with our school's COVID-19 policies and DC Department of Health recommendations, we will not be able to host visitors on campus during this admissions season. However, at GDS, we embrace change and love to innovate. We trust that during our virtual process you will be able to get a feel for GDS through our virtual events, school tour videos, and so much more. Deadlines

Admissions & Financial Aid Applications: January 7
Admissions and financial aid applications are due Friday, January 7, 2022. This includes all parent/student-submitted forms in Ravenna as well as the TADS financial aid application. We recommend working to submit school materials, such as recommendations and transcripts, by January 7, but will accept those documents up until January 14.

School Materials: January 14
School-submitted materials such as transcripts, teacher recommendations, and writing samples are all due by Friday, January 14, 2022; however, we will gladly take these materials earlier. We understand that some transcripts may come later and ask that you or your child's school provide us with an approximate date of receipt.

Notification: March 4
Admissions and financial aid decisions will be released at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 via Ravenna.

Admissions Process by Division

Lower School (Pre-K–Grade 4)

Register for a parent interview.

Submit your preliminary application.

Complete a virtual Play Visit (PK-1st Grade Applicants)

Students applying to Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade will participate in a 30-minute virtual Play Visit with a small number of applicants applying to their same grade. During this fun and interactive Play Visit, students will interact with GDS teachers, participate in group games, and spend a short period of time working one-on-one with a teacher in a breakout room. Complete a virtual Group Visit (2nd-4th Grade Applicants)

Attend a virtual open house.

Submit supplementary materials.

Middle School (Grades 5–8)

Register for a parent interview.

The first required step in the application process is to register for a virtual interview that will include both the applicant and parents/guardians. We offer interviews on most weekdays beginning in late September. Interview spaces fill quickly, so we recommend scheduling as early as possible. Applications do not need to be submitted before the family interview. Register in Ravenna.

Submit your preliminary application.

An application and fee of $75 are required. If you need a waiver code for the $75 application fee, simply email us with your child's name and apply grade and the code will be sent to you.

In addition to the application, we also require a statement, report cards, and teacher recommendations for each applicant. We will not require, nor accept, admissions testing such as the SSAT or ISEE for the 2022-23 school year.
