Thank you for your interest in Georgetown Day School! Throughout your admissions process, we aim to support you and your family as you find the best school fit for your child.

Below you will find more information about our process, which should help you as you get started. However, we are most excited to welcome you to campus soon so that you can experience our school community first-hand!

Meet our Application Database: Ravenna

We use a secure online system called Ravenna to collect application materials, open house registrations, and schedule interviews and tours. We suggest registering for a Ravenna account as soon as possible to stay connected with us and gain more insight into our admissions process. Please keep in mind that our application deadline is January 10, 2020 and many of our application steps need to be completed in advance of that deadline.

How to Apply

  • Lower School (Pre-K to 4th Grade)

    1. Register for a parent interview in Ravenna.
    2. Submit your preliminary application in Ravenna.
    3. Register for a student visit in Ravenna.
      Pre-k and kindergarten applicants will register for their child's play visit during their parent interview.

    4. Complete required admissions testing.
      Testing requirements:
      Prekindergarten: no testing required
      Grades K-1 (under age 6): WPPSI-IV
      Grades 1-3 (over age 6): WISC-V
      Grade 4: WISC-V or Elementary Level SSAT

    5. Submit supplementary materials in Ravenna.
      Supplementary materials such as parent statement, testing, report cards, and teacher recommendations are due by the deadline.

    6. Attend a parent tour. (optional)
    7. Attend an open house. (optional)
  • Middle School (5th–8th Grades)

    Required
    1. Schedule a parent interview in Ravenna.
    2. Submit your preliminary application in Ravenna.
    3. Schedule your student visit in Ravenna.
    4. Submit two teacher recommendations in Ravenna.
    5. Submit required testing.
      • Grade 5: WISC-V or SSAT
        Grades 6-8: SSAT or ISEE
      • When registering for these tests, please use the school code numbers to assure that official scores are sent to the GDS Admissions Office. For the SSAT, our school code is 3370. For the ISEE, our school code is 090081.
    6. Submit school records in Ravenna. (2018-19, 2019-20)
    7. Submit your parent statement in Ravenna.

    • Submit Financial Aid Application.
    • Attend Middle School Parent Tour.
    • Attend Middle School Open House.
    • Attend Financial Aid Information Session.
  • High School (9th–12th Grades)

    Required
    1. Schedule a family interview in Ravenna.
    2. Submit your application in Ravenna.
    3. Submit two teacher recommendations in Ravenna.
    4. Submit required testing.
      • Grades 9-12: Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE).
      • When registering for these tests, please use the school code numbers to assure that official scores are sent to the GDS Admissions Office. For the SSAT, our school code is 3370. For the ISEE, our school code is 090081.
    5. Submit school records  in Ravenna. (2018-19, 2019-20)
    Optional
    • Submit Financial Aid Application.
    • Attend High School Open House.
    • Attend Financial Aid Information Session.

Using Ravenna to Apply to GDS

To begin your application, go to Ravenna and create an account. Be sure to create your account using an email address you will have access to throughout the admission season, as this will be your primary email contact with our school.

Once you create an account in Ravenna, you will be able to view the application steps specific to the grade level(s) to which you are applying. In Ravenna, you will also be able to request teacher recommendations and other information from your student’s school, as well as track the status of your application process. For assistance with the Ravenna application software, please contact Ravenna directly.

Georgetown Day School is a coed, preK-12, non-sectarian private school in Washington, DC with small class sizes and a diverse school community. Our comprehensive, innovative curriculum includes hands-on learning, honors and AP classes, as well as advanced-level math and STEM courses. An education is not just college prep and SAT scores.
