The LMS Patio was abuzz with excitement last Thursday evening, as many of the School’s volunteers and philanthropic leaders were able to gather in person for the first time since 2019 for the 1945 Leadership Society Reception. This annual event celebrates the power of volunteerism and philanthropy at Georgetown Day School, and it is a way for the School to demonstrate our deep gratitude for the critical support these parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty, and staff provide.

Board Chair Lisa Fairfax speaks to attendees

Both Head of School Russell Shaw and Board of Trustees Chair Lisa Fairfax spoke of the importance of community during their remarks to the group, highlighting how volunteers and leadership donors make a GDS education more accessible and support faculty with their most pressing needs. Russell also shared that Leadership gifts of $2,500 or more to The Hopper Fund comprised more than 70% of the nearly $2.2 million dollars The Hopper Fund raised in the 2020-2021 year. Nearly 120 attendees enjoyed the opportunity to gather, celebrate, and get excited for the impact their support can have in the coming year. Interested in learning more about The 1945 Society?
