“The message of Passover remains as powerful as ever. Freedom is won not on the battlefield but in the classroom and the home. Teach your children the history of freedom if you want them never to lose it.” —Jonathan Sacks
“I love Passover because for me it is a cry against indifference, a cry for compassion.” —Elie Wiesel
The three GDS Passover Assemblies in the Lower School, Middle School, and High School spanned our departure for and return from Spring Break. Each was a joyful celebration expressing gratitude for our arrival to the new season. Students and faculty told the story of Passover through song, dance, and even while seated around a seder table—Middle School students appeared from home and High School students sat, safely distanced, around a seder table in the Forum. And still, in the midst of joy, the Passover story revisited in each assembly reminds us that none of us is free until we are all free.
