Women’s Varsity Soccer

Way to go GDS Women’s Varsity Soccer! In a tie match with Holton-Arms earlier this month, the Hoppers secured the ISL AA Regular Season Championship! Since their promotion from the ISL’s lower division in 2022, they have steadily progressed, this season upping their wins on their way to a total undefeated regular season for only the second time in GDS history. The Hoppers last claimed the ISL regular season title in 2019, and then became DCSAA tournament finalists.

Augur Bit

The Augur Bit won a First Place award in the Quill and Scroll International student newspaper competition. The Bit received the highest rating of "superior" in three of the competition's five categories: general practices, coverage and writing, and editing, and was one of only 24 school newspapers nationwide to score so high.

In addition, the Bit also won a first-place award from the American Scholastic Press Association.

Congratulations to editor-in-chief Callie Solomon ’25, to managing editors Peter Kumar ’25, and Jeremiah Farr ’25, and to all of the Bit's staff!

Para-athletes

Bodi De ’26 and Maya De ’24 were recently highlighted in the Washingtonian for their outstanding work with para-athletes via their nonprofit, Para Standing Tennis DMV.

In 2023, brother and sister Bodi and Maya co-founded a nonprofit to boost awareness of a form of adaptive tennis called para standing tennis. The sport is similar to traditional tennis but is designed for those who have limb differences, low vision, or another disability and can play without a wheelchair.

You can read more about their work in this Washingtontonian article.
