Pronouns: he/him/his
Years at GDS: 7
What do you love about GDS?
I am constantly surrounded by thoughtful, fun, eclectic, and purpose-driven people who enjoy working with young people and helping them through the challenging and volatile years of adolescence.
A favorite part of your job?
So many! Our amazing college counseling team, first and foremost. And I also have the privilege and joy of having conversations with students about their dreams, hopes, fears, values, and strengths. I love it when our GDS kids recognize moments of personal growth and can articulate what matters to them in the world.
A top hope/wish for your students and/or colleagues?
I want my students to stay true to themselves. Drown out the noise and try to live lives that are authentic, personally fulfilling, and joyful.
Personal passions/hobbies/pastimes?
I’m a climber! I picked it up three years ago and haven’t looked back. Any weekend, you can likely find me at the climbing gym. I’ve also played tennis since I was 13, and I’m excited for the weather to warm up so I can get back out on the courts. I’m also really into movies—I have an AMC A-List membership and try to go to the theater as much as possible.
A few favorites…?
Favorite recipes: My mom makes three delicious dishes: wok-fried lobster with ginger and scallions, black sesame soup, and sago soup with taro.
Favorite movies: I can’t name a favorite but a few of my top ones from last year include The Substance, Inside Out 2, and Challengers.
Favorite countries I’ve traveled to: Japan, Taiwan, Portugal, and Italy
With my cousin’s adorable kid—she and my sister both live in the LA area.
Tell us about your family and/or pet(s).
My parents are both first-generation immigrants from China, and they settled in Boston in the mid-80s; they still reside in the house that my sister and I grew up in. My mom is retired and living her best life, my dad works as a cook at a Chinese-American restaurant, and my sister lives out in Los Angeles and works in the television industry.
One thing about yourself your students/colleagues/others probably don't know?
After English, the language I’m most fluent in is Italian. I took Italian all throughout college (and almost majored in it), studied abroad in Bologna, and have been back to Italy four or five times since then. I am a huge fan!
If you happen to have a bucket list, one thing on your life bucket list you've already accomplished?
I went to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris last summer!
Something on your life bucket list you have yet to accomplish?
Write a full-length screenplay.
