Hopper Fund Party

Danny Stock & Lindsey Jacobson

As the sun set over the LMS field, lights began to twinkle in the trees by the playground. It was time for the Hopper Fund Back to School Party! Parents gathered on the LMS Patio to celebrate the return to school and learn more about The Hopper Fund. Over delicious food and drinks provided by our dining partner, Meriwether Godsey, parents mingled and connected with Advancement Team members, Hopper Fund Ambassadors, and school leaders. In brief remarks, Head of School Russell Shaw talked about the optimistic start to the year as well as the investment the school has been able to make in our student support and well-being programs, including the expansion of counseling services and learning resources, thanks to families who have given to The Hopper Fund.

Hopper Fund Co-Chair Rachel Vogelstein (Parker ’30 and Sage ’28) told the crowd why volunteering for The Hopper Fund is so meaningful for her, sharing an anecdote about the first time she heard her son, Parker, explain to his grandmother about “The GDS Way.” She realized then that the School’s education value extends well beyond strong academics. GDS’s focus on the whole child and its enduring mission inspired her to give back to the community that was having such an impact on her own children.

In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing from our Hopper Fund Ambassadors Rachel and Al Noshivari (Mila ’23) inviting your support of The Hopper Fund. We hope you’ll answer the call and support our students, faculty, and mission with a gift to The Hopper Fund!
