Flippin’ Fast

GDS Winter Track & Field had some flippin’ great results at Episcopal High School’s Flippin Fieldhouse during the Hoxton Invitational this weekend! Women’s Varsity bested 10 other teams to win the event, and the men’s team finished 5th overall.

Also, Ziyah Holman ’20 ran an exceptional race in New York City at the legendary track meet known as The Millrose Games. Her 300-meter time of 38.53 won her heat and was good enough for second place overall. She now holds the third fastest high school 300-meter time of the season in the country!

At the Hoxton Invitational, GDS teams delivered 22 top-five finishes in individual and team competition (listed below). Note how many athletes still have more seasons ahead with GDS track. It’s also fascinating to browse these results in the context of the amazing things these (and other) student-athletes are doing in the classroom and elsewhere around school.

On Tuesday, the team will be heading out to Hyattsville for a nearly 10-hour day of competition at the DC State Athletic Association (DCSAA) Championships. Run, jump, and throw good, Hoppers!
