In late April, the Lower and Middle School science departments hosted STEAM Day! This annual event in which students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni, and outside experts come together to promote science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education was a joyful celebration of assemblies, immersive workshops, and activities.
This year’s theme was Innovate Your World – Discovering the STEAM in Everyday Life! Throughout the day, teachers and workshop hosts encouraged students to explore how STEAM was at work in the world around them or could be applied to their everyday experiences.
The guiding question was: “How can we use STEAM to make a positive impact on the world around us?”
This year’s schedule divided the day into morning activities for the Lower school and afternoon workshops for the Middle School. The organizers also moved away from the traditional end-of-day competition to allow more time for students to focus on creativity, exploration, and problem-solving.
