Happy Lunar New Year!
Danny Stock
Happy Year of the Rabbit (or Year of the Cat for our Vietnamese community members)!
- During the weekly Monday Meeting, High School students studying Chinese sang two songs after student leaders presented information about new year’s celebrations. The student leaders also asked the HS community to keep the families of Monterey Park in our thoughts and dismantle anti-Asian hate wherever we encounter it.
- In Chinese classes from 3rd–8th grades, students painted wooden rabbit ornaments that were crafted in the High School innovation lab. They also created paper cuts of rabbits and practiced wishing each other a prosperous new year.
- Student artwork, including peach trees, rabbit sculptures, and collaged red envelopes, adorn the LMS lobby displays and festive decorations brighten up the High School library.
- Dragon Parade! Now that the traditional 15-day Lunar New Year celebrations have ended, we are missing the joy this parade from our youngest Hoppers brought to the whole Lower School. They worked hard to bring the beautiful dragon heads to life and then animate the body with their own, flying and slithering through the hallways.
