Climbing into Stardom

GDS Climbing rocked it at the League Championships. Several athletes had personal best climbs, peaking perfectly for the event.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Captain Lucie Johnson ’23 was the overall women’s individual winner, posting the highest score with two top rope climbs at 5.11d and, in bouldering, a V6 and a V5!! The women’s team finished third overall.

In the men’s competition, 9th grader Nico Abbate was the top finisher on the men’s team and finished 9th overall in the event, which saw the highest league scores ever. Nico climbed a 5.12a and 5.12b and a pair of V6s. Captains Liam Zeilinger ’23 and Kaiden Yu ’23 had very impressive scores just outside the top ten. Both improved over last year with 5.12a and 5.11d on ropes and a pair of V6s. The men’s team finished fifth overall.
