Announcing Tori Jueds as GDS’s Sixth Head of School

Georgetown Day School is pleased to announce the appointment of Tori Jueds as our next Head of School, effective July 1, 2026. Tori will succeed Russell Shaw, who is concluding 16 years of dedicated service.

Tori most recently served as Director of Schools at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, where she launched an initiative on generative artificial intelligence in education, expanded supports and resources for students with learning differences, and strengthened and aligned the teaching of mathematics across all four divisions of the N-12 program.

Previously, she served as Head of School of Westtown School in Pennsylvania, stewarding the day and boarding program through the pandemic as well as making significant contributions to arts education and sustainable use of the 600-acre campus. For a decade before that, she held multiple roles supporting the undergraduate academic and residential experience at Princeton University. Before transitioning into education, Tori worked in law for several years, including as a clerk for Judge Louis Pollak and as an associate at the DC office of Jenner and Block.

Tori is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and earned a Bachelor's degree in American history and literature magna cum laude from Harvard College and a JD from Harvard Law School.

After many years of extraordinary leadership, Russell Shaw has announced that he will conclude his tenure as Head of School at Georgetown Day School at the end of the 2025–26 academic year. In anticipation of this important transition, the GDS Board of Trustees has launched a comprehensive search for the school’s next Head of School.

To lead this effort, the Board has appointed a Head of School Search Committee and engaged Isaacson, Miller (IM), a highly-regarded national search firm with deep experience partnering with independent schools such as GDS.

This webpage will serve as the central resource for all updates related to the search, including announcements, key milestones, and ways for the entire GDS community to participate in this important process. Transparent and substantive community engagement is critical to the success of the search, and we look forward to your engagement as we chart the course for GDS’s next chapter.
