Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid

Georgetown Day School opened its doors in 1945 as the first integrated school in a segregated city. Governed by a Board of Trustees elected by the parent body and administered by an appointed Head of School, it was founded by seven families who wanted to create a school committed not only to academic excellence and educational innovation but also to a value system emphasizing appreciation and respect for others. Believing that diversity was the ground out of which all deep and rich learning occurs, they established a school where all children would be welcome, celebrated, and challenged to be their best selves.
Today, the School's philosophy, programs, and position in the national educational landscape strongly reflect its roots. Having grown from 12 children in 1945 to 1075 students in PK-12 today, GDS is recognized as one of Washington, D.C.’s and the nation’s most dynamic educational institutions.

Georgetown Day School (GDS) invites nominations and applications for a Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid who can clearly articulate GDS’s mission and distinctions in a competitive market. The Director will serve as an enthusiastic, transparent, and mission-centered ambassador and lead the school’s short- and long-term efforts to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse body of mission-aligned applicant families. The Director will be joining a thriving institution and will oversee a deeply experienced and high-performing team of six other admissions professionals. A member of the senior administration, the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid works closely with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to provide data-driven insight to inform the school’s enrollment goals.

The next Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid will demonstrate proficiency with data collection and analysis, and cultural competence with a commitment to ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. The Director will provide strategic direction and set policy for enrollment management and financial aid, which includes short- and long-term approaches to admission, marketing, financial aid, and student and family recruitment.

Important qualities and qualifications for the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid include: the ability to generate and maintain sophisticated data models and statistical models; analyze current enrollment trends and use them to inform strategy and decision-making about resource use and planning efforts; provide clear vision and supervisory leadership to the admissions team. A minimum of five years on admission and financial aid experience in an independent school or college, as well as a B.A are required. An M.A. is preferred. The full job description can be found here.

Founded as the first racially and religiously integrated school in the nation’s capital, GDS continues to keep at the heart of its school mission the maintenance and cultivation of a just, ethical, and inclusive community. With a top-notch faculty, fully enrolled student body, committed parents, and first-rate facilities, GDS is in a uniquely attractive position, with a deeply felt and lived history, clear mission and genuine openness to the possibilities that lie ahead. For the first time in GDS’s 75-year history, the School is now unified on a single campus, PK-12, presenting great possibilities for its future.
