Middle School Language Experiences
At the Middle School, 8th graders took part in day-long learning and celebration focused on their language and cultural studies.

Students studying Spanish began the day with a little morning food celebration, had Salsa Rueda dance lessons with LMS dance teachers Felipe Moltedo and Joan Ayap, and then had lunch at Cactus Cantina. French classes took a cooking course at Mon Ami Gabi with sous chef Alex Jurgensen before dining in the restaurant.

Students of Chinese visited Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute, where students learned the basics of Chow-style Kung Fu. They practiced meditation and defense moves, and also played instrumentals for a lion dance. At noon, they had lunch at Mei Wah Chinese restaurant, where they practiced ordering food in Chinese.

Students of Latin went to the Shakespeare Theatre, toured the set of the Greek trilogy The Oresteia, and discussed the plays’ themes of justice, forgiveness, and the impact of family history. They also participated in a theatre workshop focused on acting characters in classical mythology in preparation for their end-of-the-year monologue project featuring characters from the Trojan War. To cap off the day, they dined at CAVA.

These Hoppers continue to communicate clearly, powerfully, and multilingually!
