Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q. How do I order a yearbook?
    A. Yearbook order forms will be mailed to your home in January or you may download the form here on January 15. Please fill out form and return it to the GDS Yearbook office. Checks must be presented on the photo day.

  2. Q. Where does my child pick up his/her ordered yearbook photo?
    A. The yearbook photos are passed out on a day to be later indicated. The date varies upon when the plant gets us the photos but will be before November 13.

  3. Q. What if my child does not receive his/her pictures?
    A. Contact Michelle Cobb or Camilla Grove (mcobb@gds.org or cgrove09@gds.org) or contact the plant directly (Herff Jones Yearbook Photography: 703-532-0013 or 800-320-2894).

  4. Q. How much does a yearbook cost?
    A. A yearbook costs $40 if the check and form are received by April 4 and will cost $50 if received after this date. Yearbooks can also be bought on the spot for $50.

  5. Q. How can my senior submit a senior page?
    A. Each student is given a half page in the yearbook. Students may combine their pages (1 student-half page, 2 students-one full page, 3 students-two pages, 4 students-two pages, etc.) with friends. EVERY student must submit a completed senior page form. All senior pages must be turned in as hard copies.

  6. Q. How can I submit a senior ad?
    A. Senior ads may be submitted electronically or as a paper copy. The page will not be accounted for until a check is received. This must also be turned in with a completed form.

  7. Q. Is it possible to have my ad made for me?
    A. We do make ads for parents for an extra fee. Parents may give us complete or limited creative freedom. Parents may bring in photos to be scanned with or without a layout to follow.

  8. Q. How do I submit my ad electronically?
    A. If you do not know how to submit an ad electronically, please print it out and mail it to us or drop it off at school.

  9. Q. What if my child got his/her picture taken on picture day buy did not have money or an order form?
    A. ALL students get their picture taken on picture day - whether they have their form or not. But if you'd like to order pictures and the student did not have the money or an order form, please have your child RETAKE his/her photo on the photo make-up day on November 13. Your child should bring the money and order form to the photographer. If you have any questions or if you do not have a form you can call Herff Jones Yearbook Photography: Barb McNeil, 703-532-0013 or 800-320-2894 and ask them to fax a form.

  10. Q. What if my child misses the photo day and the make-up date?
    A. If your child misses both photo days, the best alternative is to get us a photo of him/her against a plain-colored background on a disk labeled with his/her name and graduation year.

  11. Q. What if my child loses his/her picture order form?
    A. ALL students get their picture taken on picture day - whether they have their form or not.
-If you'd like to order pictures and you've lost your form - the student should pick up another form from the photographer or the front desk and take it home.
    - Parents should make their selections and place check inside and return it on October 8
    - Students should hand deliver the form to the photographers on the 3rd floor on October 8 between 8-2 PM
    - Or your student can get his/her picture taken on photo make-up day on November 13

  12. Q. If we lost our form for the yearbook, senior pages, or ads, where can we get one?
    A. In the Yearbook Office.

  13. Q. Where is the Yearbook Office?
    A. On the 2nd floor at the end of the hall past the PC Labs.
