 | A Look at Technology at GDS
We educate Georgetown Day School students to be confident users of academic technology tools and respectful digital world citizens, even in the fast-paced world of technology development and change. GDS students and teachers at all levels use technology tools to support learning and teaching, and technology is integrated into the curriculum in each course and at each grade level. We welcome technology changes that help us become better learners and more effective teachers.
At GDS we have computers in classrooms, technology labs, and mobile laptop labs. Our students use the GDS Online Classroom for home/school communication and begin to use e-mail in the fifth grade. GDS teachers have access to cutting-edge technology, including laptops and Promethean boards, and plenty of professional development. All teachers are supported by enthusiastic technology faculty members who keep track of the curriculum and help with new projects and ideas.
Our programs also include three to five technology seminars offered for GDS parents each year. In the spring of 2011 parents participated in the first online technology course, on blogging.
This site includes information that members of the GDS community can use to expand their technology knowledge and skill. We have provided links, sample documents, a few tutorials, and other information on the linked password-protected pages. Please contact a member of the tech team with your ideas or suggestions.
