After School News
When the GDS Lower/Middle School school day ends at 3:15 p.m. (2:15 p.m. on Wednesdays), many parents find they need supervised child care and extra-curricular and enrichment activities for their children until the end of the work day, either on a daily basis or several days a week.

In order to meet these needs, we offer a variety of after-school options for GDS students in the Lower/Middle School (PK–8th grade). These options can be divided into three main categories, noted below.

The After-School Program (ASP) and Study Hall
Most after-school activities fall under the ASP umbrella. ASP runs daily from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m., with few exceptions. Children participating in ASP are offered structured enrichment classes as well as supervised free time. Starting in third grade, children also participate in a supervised study hall before joining ASP.

After-School Clubs and Enrichment Classes
Under the umbrella of the After-School Program, we also offer a variety of special clubs and classes. You may register for one or more of these programs without enrolling in ASP. Often, students already enrolled in ASP may participate in an enrichment class or club with little or no additional cost.

Other After-School Offerings
Occasionally, GDS teams up with other organizations to provide additional after-school programming. In this case, enrollment and pricing is up to the organization using the space. One such program is the popular Tae Kwon Do program.
