GDS alumni are invited to return to the high school for the annual alumni chili bowl on Friday, November 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy chili from Ben's Chili Bowl, hit the soccer field for games
refereed by Coach Harold Newton, and tour the high school!

10th Annual Benjamin Cooper Memorial Lecture
Alumni are invited to attend this year's Benjamin Cooper Memorial Lecture on Monday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Washington Hebrew Congregation. This year's lecture will feature John Hope Franklin, a
United States historian and past president of the American Historical Association. Professor Emeritus of History at Duke University, he is best known for his work From Slavery to Freedom, first
published in 1947. In 1995, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. The lecture is free but RSVP is required by November 16.

Sean Fine '92 and his wife Andrea have created an eye-opening documentary on the life of Ugandan children. Set against the backdrop of conditions where defenseless children are ripped from their parents'
arms to serve as soldiers in the war, the film follows one group of Ugandan childrens' experience at the National Music Competition in Kampala.

High School Theater Presents Our Country's Good
The GDS Fall Show will feature Our Country's Good, with shows on November 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. This is a true story of an episode that took place in the first penal colony in Australia.
The play is an adaptation of The Playmaker, an historical novel by Thomas Keneally, author of Schindler's List.
