Jeremy Robbins '02 Produces World Premiere Play Off-Broadway at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre
 Jeremy Robbins '02 is producing the world premiere of EDGEWISE, a play by recent Yale graduate Eliza Clark. EDGEWISE will run from July 25th to August 9th at the Studio at Cherry Lane Theatre, New York City's oldest and continuously running off-Broadway theater. The play is about three suburban teenagers working in a New Jersey burger joint on the eve of World War III. When an air strike hits, and a bloodied stranger stumbles in the door, these kids deal with the unknown the only way they know how - by tying it up.

David Kohn '84 Interviews Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan
 Baltimore Sun reporter David Kohn '84 recently interviewed acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. Kohn and Shyamalan discuss a variety of topics, including the release of his new movie, The Happening. Kohn is a medicine and science reporter for The Baltimore Sun. He has covered a wide-range of stories, including the politics of U.S. international AIDS policy, the post-Katrina healthcare crisis in New Orleans, and the tenacity of the common cold. Adam Novak '86 Releases First Novel
 In the spirit of Elmore Leonard's Get Shorty and the HBO series Entourage, Adam Novak's crime novel, The Non-Pro, skewers the Hollywood scene like a picador to a bull. When movie agent Jerry Makos dies, his brother Josh, seeking the killer, literally steps into Jerry's shoes. Adam Novak is a 15-year veteran of the William Morris Agency. He has worked with Woody Allen, John Cusack, Bruce Willis, Scarlett Johansson, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Novak was named by FADE IN: magazine as one of the "Top 100 People You Need to Know" in Hollywood. The Non-Pro is his first novel.

Andrew Sean Greer '88 at Politics & Prose on June 5
 Andrew Sean Greer will present and read from his newly released book The Story of a Marriage on Thursday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Politics and Prose in Washington. Greer released this novel in April and has been featured on NPR and The Today Show. The Story of a Marriage is set just after World War II in San Francisco and is about a young woman who marries the idol of her Southern childhood and tries to figure out what her marriage is really about. Samantha Tunis '98 on Tour with Her Band "The Lisps"
 Samantha Tunis '98 is currently on a national tour with her band "The Lisps." Tour dates in Texas, Arizona, California, and New York have been set. The Lisps, which released its debut album "Country Doctor Museum" in January, is a New York-based assemblage of 21st century post-rock n' vaudeville auteurs. They write songs about science and love, space and pain, babies and documents. Learn more about the band and view its tour schedule on its MySpace page.

Sam Means '99 Releases Satirical Book on Racism
 Emmy winner Sam Means '99, who writes for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," recently released A Practical Guide to Racism.
Written under Sam's pen name, C. H. Dalton, the book is a satire about the absurdity of racism and the concept of race in American society.
Amazon.com describes the book as "a hilarious look at the races of the worldcapturing the proud history and bright future of racism in one handy, authoritative, and deeply offensive volume."

Kevin Sheekey '84 featured in New York Magazine
 Kevin Sheekey '84 is NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's deputy mayor for government affairs and top political advisor.
New York Magazine featured Sheekey in its January 27th edition, and highlights Sheekey's influence over Bloomberg's possible presidential aspirations. Read the entire article in New York Magazine.

Sekou Andrews '90 Presents at High School Assembly
 Rolling off of a very successful two-month stint at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, Sekou Andrews '90 (pictured at right) and writing partner Steve Connell brought the magic of their show "The Word Begins" to a weekly high school assembly in late November. Their show combined drama, sketch comedy, and theatre and created a powerful presentation to the GDS high schoolers. Students also presented some thoughtful questions about the development of slam poetry and how Sekou and Steve designed such a unique performance.

"War Dance" by Sean Fine '92 Nominated for Oscar!
 The pride and joy of Sean Fine '92 and his wife Andrea Nix Fine, "War Dance," has been nominated for an Oscar!
Released last November, "War Dance" tells the story of three children from the Patongo displacement camp in northern Ugandan, who are all members of the first school music group from the northern Uganda war zone to make it to the final round of Uganda's national music competition. The documentary chronicles their journey through the competition.

Darren Silvis, New GDS Director of Alumni Relations
 We are pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Silvis as the new GDS Director of Alumni Relations. Darren comes to us most recently from George Mason University where he served as Associate Director of Alumni Affairs. While at GMU, he managed all communications with 111,000 alumni, planned regional events for the Alumni Association, worked with GMU alumni online community, and created an alumni benefits program. Prior to his tenure with the George Mason Alumni Office, Darren worked in admissions at GMU, Dickinson College, and Gettysburg College. He has also held the volunteer post of Editor of "The HIV Update" and is president of his condominium homeowners' association. Darren holds a BA from Dickinson College and attended The Kiski School, an independent boys boarding school. We are so pleased to welcome Darren to our team!

Ben's Chili Bowl Named a Classic Must-See in DC
 Crummy But Good food editor Donovan Kelly reviews Ben's Chili Bowl, owned by the parents of GDS alums Haidar Ali '78, Kamal Ali '80, and Nizam Ali '88.
Donovan names Ben's Chili Bowl a Washington, DC classic, as fundamental to a tour of DC as the White House. He also points out that Ben's serves up a perfect chilidog.
Owners Ben and Virginia Ali were inducted into the DC Hall of Fame in 2001. Read the article about the Donavan Kelly review.
