Tuition Payment

The first semester payment, 60% of tuition, is due no later than July 1. The second semester payment, 40% of tuition, is due no later than January 1.

In addition to tuition, families new to the School pay a Replacement Reserve Fee of $500 in each of their first three years at GDS. Siblings new to the School pay $300 each year for their first three years. This fee, which is designated for the improvement of the physical plant, is due with the July 1 payment.

A graduation fee of $145 is included in the twelfth-grade tuition. Parents may wish to take advantage of the Academic Management Services (AMS) phased tuition payment plan or direct debit from checking and savings accounts. To find out more about these alternatives, contact the GDS Business Office at 202-295-6110.

Children will not be admitted to school until fees have been fully paid by the appropriate due dates, with the exception of parents participating in an alternative payment plan. The School will neither grant diplomas nor transfer academic credit if accounts are not paid in full. No refunds will be made for absence or withdrawal before the end of the school year.

Financial Aid

Georgetown Day School has always opened its doors to students who can benefit from its educational program regardless of economic need. Financial aid is a major commitment of the School and is available to students enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Although it is not possible to meet all requests for such assistance, the School makes an effort to help as many families as possible. Grants are made solely on the basis of financial need.

Financial aid applications are mailed to applicants who check the appropriate box on the Application for Admission. Parents must provide a complete financial statement (Click for online form) and an estimate of the amount of aid needed, as well as a copy of their most recent tax return. This financial information is evaluated by the School and by Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) of Princeton, New Jersey. These evaluations determine the difference between the actual cost of a year’s tuition and what a family can realistically expect to pay toward this cost. Award decisions are made by the School’s Financial Aid Committee by March 15.

To learn more about the financial aid process at GDS, please come to our Financial Aid Workshop for PK–12th grade parents on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the L/MS campus.

Financial aid materials must be submitted by January 29, 2008.
