Georgetown
Day School seeks
intellectually curious and self-reliant
students who will thrive in an academically
challenging environment
and uphold the School’s values of appreciation
and respect for others. The Admissions Committee looks carefully at student visits, transcripts and school reports, teacher recommendations, and standardized test results to identify students who meet these criteria. Once these students have
been identified, the Committee must
select a limited number of students
for admission to each grade based on
spaces available at that grade level and
the School’s admissions policies and
priorities.
Most available spaces are in prekindergarten,
kindergarten, 1st, 3rd,
4th, 6th, 7th, and 9th grades. Limited
spaces may be available in other grades.
Maintaining a diverse student population and reasonable gender balance
at each grade level are primary goals of
Georgetown Day School, as is a commitment
to the children of GDS parents,
alumni, and staff. Georgetown
Day School therefore gives priority to
comparably qualified applicants whose
admission would further one or more
of these goals. Because there may be
more applicants than available spaces
in particular grade levels, it may not be
possible to admit all comparably qualified
priority applicants in a given year.
The Admissions Committee meets
in late February and early March to
consider each application for the
following school year. Admissions
decisions are mailed to applicants in
mid March.
The application for admission and nonrefundable fee of $65 must be submitted by January 15, 2008. See the student visit page for more information about application deadlines.
The deadline for admission applications for the 2008-2009 school year has now passed. Georgetown Day School will begin accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year in September 2008.
