Please use these checklists as a quick reference for the admissions process. You will find a more complete explanation of each section below by referring to the various pages of this website.
High School Admissions Checklist
Interview
To begin the formal admissions process, call the Admissions Office at 202-274-3210 to arrange an interview and tour; please bring your child to the interview. Appointments are scheduled weekdays from mid-September through mid-January. We ask that you call the Admissions Office as early as possible to make an appointment. Families who contact Georgetown Day School after early December will be able to schedule interviews only if space is available. You may want to attend one of our open house programs where you will have the opportunity to see the school and hear from administrators and teachers. Application Process
The application process consists of the following:
- Application and $65 Application Fee
The application, fee, and student questionnaire must be submitted before your child spends a day visiting the school. Please address the receipt-acknowledgement postcard included in the admissions packet and return it with your application.
The application deadline is January 15, 2008.
- Testing
Students must take either the SSAT (school code: 3370) or ISEE (school code: 090081). The SSAT must be taken no later than January 12, 2008; the ISEE must be taken no later than January 19, 2008 (tentative date).
- Teacher Recommendations
Ask two current teachers to complete recommendation forms and mail them to GDS.
- Transcript
Request that a copy of your child's transcript be sent to GDS. Please ask for current mid-year grades, as well as final grades from last year.
Test results, teacher recommendations, and transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office
by January 29, 2008.
Student Visit
Interested applicants may spend a day attending classes at the High School. Visits are arranged during or after the interview. Because there are a limited number of visiting dates, only those students who come to campus for an interview by early December will be assured of visits. Students who interview after early December will be able to visit only as time and space permit. The High School visit begins at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Visitors may bring lunch, purchase lunch at school, or have lunch off campus during Break. Visitors may not leave campus by car during the school day.
Visits must be completed by January 29, 2008.
Financial Aid
To receive financial aid forms, please check the appropriate box on the application.
Completed financial aid forms must be submitted to Georgetown Day School by January 29, 2008.

Lower and Middle School Admissions Checklist
Parent Interview

Appointments are scheduled weekdays from mid-September through mid-January. We ask that you call the Admissions Office as early as possible to make an appointment. Families who contact Georgetown Day School after early December will be able to schedule interviews only if space is available. - Teacher Recommendation
Ask a current teacher to complete the teacher recommendation form and mail it to GDS.
- Transcript
For applicants to grades 1–8, request that a copy of your child's transcript be sent to GDS. Please wait until January to request the transcript to ensure that we receive current information. Transcripts for students entering pre-kindergarten and kindergarten are not required; however, the Admissions Office will review any records the applicant's school provides.
Test results, teacher recommendations, and transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office
by January 29, 2008.
Student Visit
The student visit is arranged after the parent interview. Times for the visit vary according to the grade to which the student is applying (please see Just the Facts). First grade applicants should bring a snack. Second through eighth grade applicants should bring a snack and a lunch. Please arrive on time and wear comfortable clothes.
Students must visit by January 29, 2008.
Financial Aid
To receive financial aid forms, please check the appropriate box on the application.
Completed financial aid forms must be submitted to Georgetown Day School by January 29, 2008.
